This is the Eglise Du Dome: This is a royal chapel referred to as the Église du Dôme. Napoleon is buried at its focal point. The dome dominates of the architecture of Les Invalides. He was buried at its focal point in 1840 after being returned from the exile island of Saint Helena. This golden dome is a significant landmark on the Paris landscape. Inside the dome:

I think the gent in the picture is King Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King. He commissioned Les Invalides to be built as a retirement home for returning war veterans. It now houses several museums. Time to start googling...

Have to correct myself, further research reveals that Wolf was right on target - Jules Hardouin was the architect for Les Invalides and the man in the LT email. More googling...

Hi, New here but think I am getting sort of caught up. Wolf is correct but the man's full name is: Jules Hardouin-Mansart Sometimes you find it without the dash. Verified through google images that this was our man, as the site I was reading up on our guy had a younger, better looking pix of him. en.chateauversailles.fr/history/versailles-during-the-centuries/the-palace-construction/jules-hardouin-mansart-1646-1708He was an ingenious architect, which ties him to both Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. A side note on Michelangelo and da Vinci both studied anatomy. Verified da Vinci was part of a team to help decide where Michelangelo's David was going to be placed. Michelangelo was also commissioned to complete a fresco on the battle of Cascina(it was during the Pison war) and da Vinci was to make a matching Pendant. Michelangelo fresco was never completed because he was called away for the Sistine Chapel project, but that uncompleted fresco (later called the Bathers) did influence many young artists. Not sure if da Vinci completed his pendant though of the same work. The site for Michelangelo info is from Web Gallery of Art, and at how stuff works you can check out his architect info. You can check Leonardo da Vinci architect info at Britannica (encyclopedia.) The information for Jules Hardouin-Mansart is from Versailles through the century. Hope it helps and is reliable. Will keep checking stuff out. www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/bio/m/michelan/biograph.htmlentertainment.howstuffworks.com/arts/artwork/michelangelo-buildings.htmwww.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/336408/Leonardo-da-Vinci/59102/Sculptureradarluv
